Is a permit required?

Yes, but good news… It’s free! County parks all require permits, but they are purely time-slot reservations put in place so the parks don’t get overrun by well-meaning photographers all trying to take pictures there at once. As your photographer, I always handle the permit, so all you need to do is worry about showing up on time :)

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, on 6ft leashes. If a session with your dog is desired, and you are okay with having them on a leash for the images - this park is an option!

What are the main features of the park?

Think white paneled farm chic. Historic oak is full of small crisp white cottage type buildings. You have barns, white picket fences, cute columned buildings, along with local orchards and a pond. If lucky enough, you will also get glimpses of the goats, and chickens present onsite. Here are a few images straight from the county page:

When should I schedule for?

Season: Historic Oak View has a charm that lasts through most seasons. Although some small wildflowers are present on parts of the property, there is a lot of charm that you can find independent of season. I would suggest spring for lush greens and new growth, July-Sept to catch the Crape Myrtle trees (as picture in first image) against the white buildings. Or October-Nov for fall colors.

Time of Day: As with most sessions, doing an early morning or late evening session works best. Rule of thumb is starting 30 minutes after sunrise, or a session that plans to end 30 minutes before sunset.
